Where and when will Binance Blockchain Week be held?

Binance Blockchain Week will be held in Singapore from 19 to 22 January 2019. This four-day event comprises two parts — (1) a two-day hackathon called Binance SAFU Hackathon and (2) a two-day conference called Binance Conference.

The Binance SAFU Hackathon will be held at PwC Academy from 19 to 20 January, and the Binance Conference will be held at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on 21 and 22 January.

Both located at the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, the two locations offer world-class entertainment, shopping, dining, arts and culture options just minutes away.

Where can I park my vehicles? Is parking provided?

  • 7am – 7pm, Monday to Friday: S$7.49 for first hour and S$1.07 for every subsequent half hour
  • 7am – 7pm, Saturday & Sunday, eve of public holiday & public holiday: S$8.56 for first hour and S$1.07 for every subsequent half hour
  • 7pm – 7am, Monday to Thursday: S$7.49 flat rate
  • 7pm – 7am, Friday to Sunday, eve of public holiday & public holiday: S$8.56 flat rate
  • Max charge: S$27.82 per 24 hours
  • Hotel guests can request for concessionary coupons from the Front Desk

Valet Parking Rates

Valet Parking is available at Hotel Tower 1 and Casino Driveway, accessible to cars only.

Please note that motorcycle parking is not available at Marina Bay Sands.

Will I have to pay for media passes? How many am I entitled to?

Media passes are free upon successful accreditation, and each registered journalist is entitled to one pass. If a photographer and/or videographer is attending with you, they will also need to register for accreditation at this link. Do note that media passes are restricted to editorial team members only, and all other applications from non-editorial team members will be rejected.

How do I collect my media pass? What does the media pass entitle me to?

You will receive a confirmation email with a QR Code. Please bring this along (in email or hardcopy) to the media counter located on Level 5, Sands Expo & Convention Centre to collect your media pass.

Your media pass entitlements are:

  1. Access to Hackathon on 19 & 20 January 2019 at PwC
  2. Access to Main Conference and Exhibition on 21 & 22 at Level 5, Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre
  3. Daily lunch & coffee/teabreaks at Main Conference

Will there be a media lounge and refreshments provided?

There is a media area with refreshments, wifi and power outlets provided for journalists to write their stories, take a break and/or conduct interviews if any.

For charging of equipment, the standard electrical current used in Singapore is 220-240 volts AC (50 cycles) and you can use power plugs with three square prongs here.

Will lunch be provided for media? Where can I get food nearby the event venues?

Lunch will be provided for media with media pass. There are also several restaurants in Marina Bay Sands offering a variety of cuisines. For more information, please visit this link.

What is the dress code for the event?

The dress code for the Hackathon and the Conference is Smart Casual.

Are photos and videos allowed during the event?

Photos and videos are allowed during the event. Do also feel free to share updates on your respective social media platforms.

When will I receive the official event photos so I can publish them?

For official photos of the event, media attendees will receive a link to the photos, which will be synced to real-time coverage of the event. Media can then download the photos for use in articles and social media platforms.

If I’m flying in from overseas to attend the event, will my flights and accommodation be sponsored by Binance?

Flights and accommodation will not be sponsored by Binance. However, media will enjoy accommodation at discounted corporate rates.

How do I travel from Changi Airport to the city centre? How to do I get to the Hackathon and Conference venues?

There are several options to travel from Changi Airport to the city centre and to the event venue:

  • Taxi
  • MRT
  • Bus

The public transport in Singapore is affordable. You can easily transfer from bus to MRT (train) with just a tap in a single ezlink card. Cards can be purchased and reloaded at MRT stations and 7/11 convenience stores.

What else should I take note of when visiting Singapore?

The Singapore dollar is used here and notes come in denominations of S$2, S$5, S$10, S$50, S$100, S$1,000 and S$10,000. Coins come in 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and S$1.

Singapore is located close to the equator and has a tropical climate, so the island is warm and humid all year round. The temperature ranges from 26°C to 33°C. Be prepared for rain at any time as well, as downpours can be brief or torrential.

Smoking is prohibited in air-conditioned places in Singapore such as shopping malls and restaurants. Designated smoking spots are in place to cater to smokers, do note that there are heavy in fines for individuals who do not comply with the guidelines.

Water from the tap in Singapore is safe for consumption as passes World Health Organization standards. Bottled water can be easily purchased at convenience stores or supermarkets as well.
